1.1 Match Procedure

• Player Eligibility: Multiple players from the same high school are permitted in the High School Showdown.
• Set Length: All tournament sets will be played best-of-3 games.

2.1 Game Rules

• Game Lobby Setup: One player generates the link for the game using https://chess.com/play/playerusername (replace playerusername with the player’s username) that will be sent to the opponent.
• Mode: Standard
• Time: 15|10
• Side Selection: The game will be set to Random for the first match. The loser of the previous game will control side selection in the following game. Draws will result in the players switching starting sides in the next game.
• Wins: The winning player will be awarded 1 point.
• Draws: Both players will be awarded 0.5 points.

3.1 Reporting

• Ties: In the event of a tie, games will be played until one player wins.
• Forfeits: A player will forfeit their match if they fail to appear within 5 minutes from their match being called to start. Forfeits will be considered a 2-0 win for the player that showed up to play.
