Summary

empty bracket
There are currently no Brackets for this event.

Grand Finals will be a best of 5, otherwise all other matches will be a best of 3

There will be a winners and losers bracket
  • If coming to the grand finals from the losers bracket, the respective player will have to win the best of 5 twice to take the tournament win.
  • The player coming from the winners bracket only has to win the best of 5 once to take the tournament win.

Make sure your internet connection is stable (enough)!

Tournament Admins are not immune to these rules/guidelines, our connection can kick the bucket too sometimes
Please only report a connection issue if it is major. As much as we would all like a smooth online experience, that's just not gonna be possible all the time. So, if the match is only a little laggy, please bear with it, as we can't deal with every individual minor lag/connection complaint
  • We all know that internet stability is a fickle thing at times, more for some than others. All we ask is that you make sure that your connection can at least be stable enough not to cause significant play-ability issues.
  • If you feel as if the connection quality of your match is severely hampering gameplay, contact either of us and we'll setup a separate arena to lag test each player.
  • If a contestants connection is poor enough, disqualification may be a consequence. We know, it's not exactly the nicest thing, but we can't guarantee that other players want to deal with severe lag in their matches, much less yourself if it happens to be you.
  • Lastly, we kindly ask that you do not try to abuse these connection rules. If a player contacts us regarding a lag/connection issue with the intent of trying to get a win by default and little to no issues are to be found, the potential false reporting player will get a warning. If it happens again, the player will automatically lose their match. Nobody wants this, so just fight it out fair and square please!

Please conduct appropriate behavior during this tournament

  • I get it, you get it, we get it, everyone gets it. Losing can be frustrating, and can sometimes lead to genuine anger. It's not entirely avoidable sometimes. All we request is that if this happens to you, please refrain from directing said anger/frustration at your opponent or the TOs.
  • If you start to and/or continue to exhibit rude, condescending, or outright toxic behavior of any sort, you will face the risk of being DQ'd.
  • At the end of the day, this is just a leisurely tournament ran for fun and entertainment purposes with pretty low stakes and players from various skill levels. We're not saying that a serious, competitive mindset is wrong or that that this is a super serious no fun allowed event. Play nice, do your best, and most importantly, have fun and enjoy yourselves.

Updates/Revisions/Additions to Above Rules (Important, Please Read)

Tournament Payouts
  • For future tournaments hosted by me (Iridescent), we will use the following payout method: First Place - 60%, Second Place - 30%, Third Place - 10%
  • This is to reward the hard work by players that make it far in the tournament. In addition, I will personally put up $50 for every tournament as a baseline. To increase the prize pool, ALL DONATIONS MADE TO MY TWITCH ACCOUNT WILL GO TOWARD NEXT TOURNAMENTS PRIZE POOL. Basically, I’m not made of money so I think this will be the most fair and effective way to increase the prize purse.
    Lag (Updated)
In the first tournament hosted by us, we had several polarizing instances concerning lag. Learning from these, the current lag rules are as follows:
  • If a player contacts an admin multiple times with complaints regarding laggy opponents and no lag is found, that player will be DQ’ed for stalling the tournament.
  • If lag is found during a lag test that makes it impossible for combos that normally work in online play (and/or significantly hinders gameplay in general), then that player will be DQ’ed.
    Behavior
During the first tournament we found several instances of competitors using prohibited language. THIS IS THE WARNING! If we find a player using that language against another player or at a TO, the player will be immediately DQ’ed from the tournament and has the potential to be banned from future tournaments as well. Also, there were a few instances with players disagreeing with calls made by a TO during the tournament, which leads me to reiterate another point. A TO’s JUDGEMENT IS FINAL. You may disagree and complain all you’d like, but the fact of the matter is that we have a tournament to run and we simply cannot stop bracket to debate rulings. If there is a legitimate complaint about a ruling, contact a TO in the discord after the tournament to discuss the issue civilly.
    Check-ins & Round Lengths
Because we’re aiming for hosting larger tournaments every week, we’re going to be stricter regarding check-in times and round lengths.
  • For check-in’s, we will no longer be manually checking in players at the beginning of the tournament unless we are done setting other things up first. So do not rely on TO’s checking you in. In addition, for individual match-up check-ins, we are shortening the DQ Timer from 15 minutes to 10 minutes.
  • Currently, we have round lengths set to 30 minutes. Clearly, that was way too long and there was a lot of waiting around for most people (which is still pretty typical for offline tournaments), therefore we are shortening the round lengths to 20 minutes. With that said, if you and you’re opponent are checked in to your match on Smash.gg you must organize and start playing your sets in 3 minutes. To make this go by quicker, THE FIRST PERSON TO CHECK IN TO THEIR NEXT MATCH WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CREATING THE ARENA. IF THE ARENA IS NOT MADE WITHIN 3 MINUTES OF CHECKING IN TO YOUR MATCH YOU MAY FACE A POTENTIAL DQ FOR STALLING THE TOURNAMENT.
