Event Rules
TOURNAMENT RULES

  • Latest Version. The latest version update of the Game will be used for Tournament play, including any new characters and balance updates.

  • Double Elimination. The Tournament will be played out as a Double Elimination competition. In a “Double Elimination” competition, Players compete in Match Sets and advance starting from the Winner’s side of the Tournament (the “Winner’s Bracket”). If a Player loses a Match Set while on the Winner’s Bracket, that Player will move to the Loser’s side of the Tournament (the “Loser’s Bracket”). If a Player loses a Match Set while on the Loser’s Bracket, thus receiving their second loss, that Player is eliminated and will no longer advance in the Tournament.

  • Game Version: PS5
  • [All Qualifying Rounds]: Match Settings: 3/5 Rounds, 2/3 Matches, 60 Seconds
  • [Top 8 Only]: Winners Finals, Losers SemiFinals Losers Finals, Grand Finals: 3/5 Rounds, 3/5 Matches, 60 Seconds

Costumes:

  • Character Customizations: Off
  • Character Preset Costumes are legal for Tournament play
  • Players cannot use the same Preset. Should both Players wish to use the same Preset, they will play a Best-of-One Rock-Paper-Scissors to determine who may use their preferred Preset Costume of choice for the duration of the Match Set.

Winner Lock Rules and Stage Select:

  • During the first Match of a Match Set, each Player selects their character and the stage is selected at random.
  • After a Match, the winning Player (“Winner”) is “locked” to their character and is not permitted to select a new character until/unless they lose a subsequent Match.
  • All subsequent Matches are the choice of the losing Player (“Loser”) with the following choices: the Loser may
  • (a) rematch by selecting their same character and random select a new stage; or
  • (b) rematch by selecting a new character and a random stage.

Coaching:

  • Once per match.
  • Only after losing the previous match
  • One minute, and one designated coach

For a Player’s Points to be counted and information to be displayed in the Rankings, a Player must: (a) register on the Tournament Portal and consent to applicable terms and conditions; and (b) have a valid account for any applicable tournament platform supported by the Tournament Portal.
