The Golden Rule

Follow your TO’s Instructions. The Tournament Organiser’s decisions are final. Respect their rulings to ensure a smooth event.

Gameplay/Tournament Rules

Tournament format/rules adhere to the TWT specifications, summarised below but read them in their entirety here - link

Tournament Format
  • Double elim
  • FT2 for all matches except Winners Finals, Losers Semis/Finals, and Grand Finals (FT3)
  • Ties are replayed
Character, Stage & Side Selection
  • Winner keeps character, loser may switch
  • Blind pick available, ask your TO
  • Random stages.
  • No custom outfits or matching presets
  • Sides decided by FT2 RPS or mutual agreement
  • After a loss, the player may choose rematch (random stage) or go to character/stage select
Pauses and Disconnections
  • The player who pauses forfeits the round
  • External interruptions may force a set restart.
Coaching
  • Each player may nominate a single person as their coach
  • Coaching is allowed for 60 seconds if that player lost the previous match.

  • The Tournament Organiser’s decisions are final. Respect their rulings to ensure a smooth event.

Gameplay Rules.

Standard Tournament Format.

  • Matches will follow a double-elimination format unless specified otherwise
  • First-to-2 matches for all rounds except finals (winners, losers and grand finals), which will be First-to-3.

Tekken TWT Tournament Format.

  • Tekken 8 events adhere to TWT standards which can be found here - link
  • First-to-2 matches for all rounds except winners, losers semis/finals and grand finals, which will be First-to-3

Character & Stage Selection.

  • Winner of each match must keep their character; the loser may switch.
  • Default stage is random.

Controller Setup.

  • Bring your own controller (BYOC). Ensure it works with the setup provided (e.g., PS4, PS5, PC).
  • Notify the TO (Tournament Organizer) if you need help with controller configuration or adapter setup.

Pauses and Disconnections.

  • If a game is paused or interrupted (e.g., accidental pause, controller disconnect), the opposing player has the right to claim the round.
  • Disputes will be resolved at the TO’s discretion.

Time Limits.

  • Players must be ready within 5 minutes of their match being called.
  • Whilst we do try adjust match order to fit around players, failure to show up may result in a disqualification if it adversely affects the bracket.

Conduct Rules

Respect the Venue.

  • Treat the Tos, arcade staff, property, and other customers with respect.
  • Clean up after yourself and dispose of any rubbish properly.
  • Support the venue by purchasing drinks or food on-site if you can as supporting the venue supports the community.
  • Hype and cheering are encouraged, but keep it within reasonable limits to respect the atmosphere and other patrons.

Equipment.

  • Setups are provided by community members so respect the gear.
  • Feel free to bring additional equipment to help the event run smoothly (e.g., monitors, consoles, adapters).

Alcohol Consumption.

  • Enjoy responsibly. Over-intoxication or disruptive behavior will result in removal from the tournament and potentially the venue.

Fair Play.

  • No cheating, hacking, macros or other manipulation of game setups or controllers. Any such behavior will lead to disqualification.

Sportsmanship.

  • Be respectful to all players and staff.
  • Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated and may result in immediate disqualification, ejection and ban from future events at TOs discretion.
  • If anyone makes you feel unsafe, or you believe someone is in contravention of the above rules please speak to a TO and they'll address it.
