NOTICE: Marvel Rivals will use the Gator Esports Center located at the venue. Complete setups are provided at the venue, but it is recommended to bring your own keyboard, mouse, headset, and mousepad.
Marvel Rivals Tournament Rules
1. Introduction
Welcome to the Marvel Rivals Tournament at the GatorLAN! This document outlines the official rules and regulations for the event, including tournament structure, match format, and conduct expectations. All participating teams, spectators, and staff are expected to familiarize themselves with these rules.
2. Eligibility & Registration
Eligibility
- This tournament is open to any players interested in playing Marvel Rivals.
- Team members under the age of 18 must have parental/guardian permission to participate.
Registration
- All teams must register by the deadline provided in the official tournament announcement.
- Teams are responsible for providing accurate roster and contact information during registration.
3. Schedule & Venue
Date & Time
- The tournament date(s) and check-in time(s) will be listed on the official event page.
- All teams must arrive on time. Late arrivals may result in forfeiture of matches.
Venue
- The tournament will be held in person at the Reitz Union on the University of Florida campus.
- Specific room/location details will be provided upon registration confirmation.
4. Conduct & Fair Play
UF Student Conduct Code
- All teams and attendees must adhere to the University of Florida Student Conduct Code at all times.
- Any acts of harassment, discrimination, or unsportsmanlike behavior (including taunting, threats, or offensive language) will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification of the team involved.
Sportsmanship
- Respect your opponents, spectators, and tournament staff.
- Cheating or intentional exploitation of any game-altering glitches is strictly prohibited.
- Failure to comply with conduct rules can result in immediate disqualification and removal from the venue.
5. Tournament Format
Round Robin Stage
- Each team will face every other team once.
- If there are large number of teams, there will be 2 seperate groups, each completing their own round robin stage.
- All round robin stage matches are Best-of-3 rounds.
- The first team to win 2 rounds wins the match.
- Teams earn points for match victories (e.g., 1 point per match win).
- Competitive Bans will be in place for the ban system.
- Each team will face every other team once.
Advancement
- The top 2-4 teams from the group/groups (based on match wins and, if necessary, tiebreakers) will advance to the Single Elimination Bracket stage.
Single Elimination Bracket
- Seeding in the bracket is determined by round robin stage performance.
- Matches will be a Best-of-5 format.
- Tournament Bans will be in place for the ban system.
- Winners advance, while losers are eliminated.
- Continue until a single champion team is determined.
Tiebreakers (Round Robin Stage)
- Ties in group standings will be broken based on (in order):
- Head-to-head result among tied teams.
- Round differential (rounds won minus rounds lost).
- If still tied, a one-match playoff (Best-of-5) will be held.

6. Match Procedures
Equipment
- Consoles, controllers, and game setups are BYOC (Bring your Own Computer or Console)
- Teams may use their own controllers if they are compatible and do not provide any unfair advantage.
- Any controller modifications or macros that provide an advantage beyond standard in-game features are prohibited.
Match Start
- Both teams must check in with the tournament organizer or designated referee before starting their match.
Pauses/Interruptions
- Unintentional pauses or hardware malfunctions must be immediately reported to a tournament organizer.
- The organizer may decide to resume the round from the time of pause, replay the round, or grant the round to a team based on the situation.
7. Streaming & Media
Live Streaming
- Select matches, especially during later stages of the tournament, may be streamed live.
- Teams will be informed in advance if their match is scheduled to be streamed.
Consent & Publicity
- By participating in the tournament, teams consent to appear on-stream and in any related promotional or archival materials.
- Photography and videography may be captured throughout the event for publicity purposes.
8. Prizes & Awards
Prize Distribution
- Trophies or medals may be awarded for top-placing teams.
- Distribution of prizes is subject to compliance with all applicable UF policies.
Collection of Prizes
- Winning teams are responsible for providing accurate contact information for prize delivery.
- Unclaimed prizes after a designated period may be forfeited.
9. Disputes & Rulings
Judgment Calls
- Tournament organizers have the final say in all disputes or rule interpretations.
- Organizers reserve the right to update or amend the rules in the interest of fairness and competitive integrity.
Appeals
- If a team disagrees with a ruling, they may request an appeal or second opinion from a head organizer, whose decision will be final.
10. Amendments & Final Notes
Rule Changes
- The organizing team reserves the right to make changes to the rules at any time, with or without prior notice, to address unforeseen circumstances or maintain fairness.
