smash.gg connection
Once a match is ready, the two players will be paired in a popup chat box. Characters will be determined using the built-in system, and the popup will guide one of the players into hosting the match.
Draw Matches
If the match ends in a draw, that match will be replayed with the same stage and characters. This should be reported as a draw in the set.
Online Lag
The general rule for lag is that it must be played through, even if it creates an undesirable experience. If, however, the lag is so bad that it is deemed unplayable, message a tournament admin in the Discord channel and we will do our best to determine which client's connection is causing the problem, and that player will forfeit the match. If it cannot be determined, the match will proceed from there despite the lag.
Anyone caught intentionally lagging a match will be forfeited and banned from all future Discord tournaments
Online Connections
If a player's NAT settings prevent them from joining a room, they must open their router ports and be the host. If a connection still cannot be made, the player with strict NAT settings must forfeit. Message an admin in the Discord channel if connection issues occur.
Crashes and Desyncs
If a game client crashes or a desync occurs, the match must be replayed from the beginning. The same stage and characters must be played.
First match rules = Blind Picks and Stage List
For the first match in a set, the host will set Blind Picks and the Balanced stage list. The balanced list consists of the Starter stages listed below. The game will select the stage randomly from this list.
Stages
Starter stages ("Balanced" in-game stage list): Pluto 2, Wily Castle 2 Holo Chamber, Wily Castle 3 Chamber,
Counterpick stages: Magnet Boss, Heat Boss, Top 1, Hard Boss, Pharaoh 2,
Counterpick Process
The loser of round 1 will select the next stage, which must be taken from either the random list or counterpick list. This stage choice will be shared with the winner in the smash.gg chat box.
The winner then has the option to change characters, which again must be posted into the chat box, after which the loser may change characters. The match will be played, and a winner determined. If the set is not yet over, the same process will be used to determine the next stage and characters.
Players now get one stage ban. After the first match is played, the winning player can ban any stage for the remainder of the set. The banned stage can be any Starter or Counterpick. If the counter-picking player wins, that player then gets a stage ban as well.
Note that a player may never choose a stage where they previously won.
##Stage Striking A round 1 specific rule in which a certain stage is selected for round 1 matches by striking stages, the left side player will strike a stage, then the right side player will strike another stage, leaving one stage of the 3 starter stages remaining, that stage will be played on for round 1. Afterwards the counterpick stage process goes on as usual.
