Additional Rules Stage Striking Players play a best-of-1 Rock-Paper-Scissors, and winner may choose to either strike a stage first or select a port first. Stages are struck in a 1-2-2-1 order.
Stage Bans After each Game, before counterpicking, the Player who won the previous Game may ban one stage from either the Starter or Counterpick list. Stage Clause A Player/team may not pick any stage they previously won on during the set. 6.3.4. Meta Knight Stage Clause If one Player/Team has chosen Meta Knight when their opponent has not, previous stage selection procedure is ignored and The Player/Team that has not selected Meta Knight will choose the stage to play on from any legal stage, ignoring any stage strikes, bans, and prohibitions of selecting a stage previously won on during the set. If the metaknight loses, the counterpick is selected at Random stage selection.
Self-Destruct Moves If a match ends with a self-destruct move causing the remaining players to lose their last stock simultaneously, the results screen will determine the winner. If a sudden death occurs, standard sudden death rules apply. The only exception to this rule is a player/team successfully landing a Ganondorf or Bowser’s Side Special on the opponent/opposing team when the opponent/opposing team is on their last stock, causing the match to end. The initiator of the move wins regardless of the outcome for these specific exceptions.
Rules Concerning Meta Knight Meta Knight’s infinite dimensional cape tactic is banned. Double Meta Knight is banned in Doubles.
Ledge Grab Limit In the event of a timeout, either Player or Team may invoke the Ledge Grab Limit rule by asking to view the Edge Grabs statistic for all Players in the results screen. If either Player or at least one Player on a Team exceeded 35 Edge Grabs during the Game, that Player/Team forfeits the Game. If both Players, or at least one Player on each Team, exceeded 35 Edge Grabs, this rule is disregarded. If a Player is using Meta Knight, the limit is reduced to 20 Edge Grabs. If Players voluntarily exit the results screen before checking Edge Grabs, they may forfeit the right to invoke this rule at the sole discretion of the TO. In the event of a 1-stock tiebreaker, the maximum number of Edge Grabs is 11. If a Player is using Meta Knight, the limit is reduced to 6 Edge
Grabs. Permitted Controllers Wired GameCube controllers are allowed, and preferred. Players may use any wireless controller at their own risk, and must properly desync it and remove the batteries after each set, with risk of DQ if this is not done properly. Turbo and other performance mods are not allowed to be used on any controller. Controller Interference If your controller is found to be the cause of disruption to the tournament (mid-game or otherwise), you are subject to complete disqualification from the event.
Scrooging
The act of scrooging is banned and will result in a forfeit of the match. This means that a Player may not travel underneath the main stage a second time without first landing on the main stage again (platforms do not count) or taking damage (excluding from the Magnifying Glass).
