Rules

- 4 stocks.
- 8 minutes.
- Friendly Fire enabled.
- Handicap, items, pause turned off.
- Damage Ratio 1.0
- Stock Sharing permitted.
- Players may demand controller ports in doubles to be arranged like so: 1 - 2 - 2 - 1.
- Players may demand for a neutral start, defined as both players starting at opposite ends of the stage, with the game beginning on a agreed upon signal.
- All preliminary stage sets are Bo3, with all bracket stage sets Bo5 unless mentioned otherwise.
- If a set contains stage bans, players may select a stage they themselves have banned, and both players may ban the same stage.
- Stalling is not permitted. Stalling defined as making the game unplayable, exampled as, but not limited to, an infinite combo extending over 300%, causing one or both players to freeze, a character disappearing, and resetting the game. A player taken to be stalling forfeits the set in question.
- If the game is paused, in the case where pause has accidentally been left on, whether on accident or on purpose, the player who initiated the pause must immediately forfeit their current stock upon unpausing.
- In the case of a timeout, the following steps are taken in order to determine the winner;
- The player with the higher stock count
- The player with lower damage percentage
- If neither of these steps lead to a victor, or if both players lose their final stock at the same timing causing sudden death, a 1 stock, 2 minute tiebreaker game is played to determine the winner of the game.
- The coaching of a player mid match or set is forbidden.
- Players may demand their opponent to change the colour of their chosen fighter, if said colour is to cause confusion with a selected stage, or team colour.
- In a counterpick situation, the losing player may demand the reorganisation of controller ports.
- The game version is NTSC, accompanied with the Universal Controller Fix v0.73 mod, which alleviates advantages caused by controller inconsistencies.
- The Gentlemen’s Clause is not permitted. Defined as both players for example, but not limited to mutually agreeing to play on a stage not permitted in the ruleset stagelist, or otherwise changing the common rules.
- The tournament organizer may at will accept a match to be replayed upon request (ex. Including but not limited to in the case of a blackout or ruleset misconduct). The prerequisit for this to occur is that a rematch is requested immediately upon the abnormality occurring, and if said abnormality is to have potentially impacted the result of the set. A tournament organizer may also dismiss a request and a set or sets may not be replayed despite of said abnormality.
- A player may demand the initiation of a maximum 30 second button check before the first game of a set.
- If a player has not started their set or initiated a button check within 5 minutes of their expected set start time, said player will receive a warning. Warnings given are to remain for the entirety of a tournament’s runtime. Players will be disqualified from their current set upon 2 warnings, and will be fully disqualified from a tournament given a 3rd warning.
- Pokemon Stadium transformations are disabled
- “Wobbling” with Ice Climbers is not permitted. A Player is considered to be Wobbling if the following conditions are met: The Player grabs his/her opponent with the Player-controlled Ice Climber. The CPU-controlled Ice Climber has not been KO’d. During the grab, the opponent is locked in continuous hitstun by a series of at least 5 attacks, with at least 3 of those attacks being from the CPU-controlled Ice Climber. For avoidance of doubt, multi-hit moves such as Blizzard count as 1 attack.
Set Procedure
- Players select their fighters. A player may demand a double blind character selection.
- Players proceed to strike stages from the starter stagelist.
- The first game of a set is played.
- The winner of the previous game bans a permitted number of stages.
- The loser of the the previous game picks a permitted stage, this is what is defined as a counterpick.
- The winner of the previous game picks their fighter.
- The loser of the previous game picks their fighter.
- The next game is played.
- Repeat set procedure steps 4-8 until a set is concluded.
Double Blind Character Selection
- Player A tells a third party their choice of fighter in secret.
- Player B declares their fighter choice to player A.

- Stage Striking occurs in the following order: 1 (P1) -> 2 (P2) -> 1 (P1).
- Each player or team has 1 stage ban in a Bo3 set. Bo5 sets do not have stage bans.
- DSR is in play. Defined as a player not being able to pick a stage they have previously won on throughout the set.
In all disputes, the tournament organizer has the final say.
