EVENT RULES

Timeout Rules: If there is a timeout that causes sudden death, the player with the lower percent wins the game. Match communication may take place in the smash.gg match chat or discord.

All match reporting and check-in MUST occur within smash.gg.

Players are expected to be ready to check-in when each round starts.

DQs will be handed out for poor connections. These will be handled by a moderator on a case-by-case basis. Matches will be Best of 3 and best of 5 games will ONLY be Losers and Winners Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, Finals, and Grand Finals

No match stalling. You are given 7 minutes to check-in for your match. Attendees will not ask other competitors to wait for long periods of time

Match Rules
Rules:
  • All rounds are best 2 out of 3. You must truthfully report to the tournament organizer who won each round.
  • 3 stocks per game and the timer must be set to 6 minutes.
  • All stage hazards must be turned off.
  • NO TAUNTING because it is rude and can make opponents feel bad.
  • NO ITEMS except for Pokeballs and Smash Balls, which must be set to medium (Masterballs are too overpowered and not allowed)
These stages are allowed:
  • Final Destination
  • Battlefield
  • Big Battlefield
  • Smashville
  • Town & City
  • Pokemon Stadium
  • Duck Hunt
  • Lylat Cruise
  • Skyworld
  • Fountain of Dreams
  • Dreamland
  • Umbra Clock Tower
  • Midgar
  • Reset Bomb Forest
  • Peach's Castle

Stage Striking will be a 1-2-1 format. First person to check in (Player 1) for the match will strike one stage. Player 2 will strike 2 stages. Player 1 will then select which stage to play the match on. Prior stages that were played on may be chosen (AKA no DSR)

NO SPIKING OR GIMPING. If a player falls off the stage, you must wait for them to recover before you continue fighting. Following them off the stage to attack or scare them away is unfair and not allowed.
NO CHARACTER SWITCHING. You must decide what character to play at the beginning of the tournament and you are not allowed to switch during the tournament.
NO DIRECTIONAL AIRDODGING. This is a bad ability that can be used for unfair things like wavedashing and avoiding attacks that deserve to hit. Since its easy to do this without meaning to, there will be a three-strike system: If you airdodge in a direction more than three times, or a tournament organizer judges that you are doing it intentionally, you will be disqualified. Normal airdodging is okay.

These characters are banned:

ALL ECHO FIGHTERS (Dark Samus, Daisy, Pichu, Dr. Mario, Lucina, Dark Pit, Lucas, Young Link, Ken, Richter) because they can be confusing to opponents and don't add anything to the game.
BAYONETTA because she is too good.
CHROM because he is so hard to unlock so many players might not be used to playing as against him.
MR. GAME & WATCH because he is too hard to see and the randomness of his side-B ruins the competitiveness.
DUCK HUNT because he just spams and is not fun to play against (Sorry Kyle).
POKEMON TRAINER because you aren't allowed to switch characters and playing 3 characters would be unfair. Also it can be confusing with Pokeballs which Pokemon is your opponent.

These moves are banned:

ALL COUNTER ATTACKS (Down-B) because they are unfun and unfair.
SNAKE'S SIDE-B because it is impossible to avoid and unfair.
ISABELLE'S SIDE-B because it is annoying and unfair.
SHULK'S B (Monado) because it changes his stats and basically makes him a different character, which counts as character switching and is not allowed
GRENINJA'S SIDE-B because it lets you teleport which is way too good and can be used to unfairly sneak up to/away from your opponent.
ALL UP-B MOVES ON-STAGE because up-B moves are for recovering ONLY and using them to hit avold your opponent is not how they are supposed to be used.
NO SPAMMING PROJECTILES/SMASH ATTACKS. Spamming is not fun and not competitive. You are only allowed to use 15 projectiles and 15 smash attacks in a single game. Using more will result in an immediate game loss.
NO COMPLAINING ABOUT THE RULES (this includes YOU Kyle).
