THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV REGULATIONS

Version: THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV for PlayStation 4

  • Stage select is now RANDOM only

  • Specified the setting of non-genuine controllers.

    Match Format
  • Double elimination format

  • 2/3 Games per Set. *3/5 Games for Winners, Losers, and Grand Finals

  • Winner of prior game must keep same characters, but may change team order

  • Loser of prior game may switch characters and team order

  • Random stage select.

    Game Setup
  • 3-on-3 team battle

  • 60 count

  • There are no restrictions on the characters used.

  • Arrangement costumes can be used in this tournament.

  • The stage selection is random. It is possible to press LS/L3, press and hold the upper or lower buttons on the controller and press the decision.

  • If a double KO occurs in the final round and the game ends in a draw, the game will be played again on the same stage with the same characters.

  • After the game starts, if the game is interrupted by pressing the Option button or Share button before the round ends, or the controller connection is interrupted, the offending player will be given a loss.

    Controller settings
  • The button settings in the game can be freely changed.

  • The macro function on the controller side, such as the continuous fire function, cannot be used.

  • Leverless controllers are available.

  • Your controller must adhere to the following: *Operation other than movement [Weak attack, middle attack, strong attack, special technique, abilities (default: R1), throw (default: L1), guard (default: R2), overhead attack (default: L2)] Cannot be assigned to multiple input mechanisms.

  • When moving with a direction key or button, the same movement cannot be assigned to multiple input mechanisms.

  • If the left and right direction inputs are entered at the same time, both inputs must be enabled or both inputs must be disabled

  • If the up and down direction keys and/or buttons are entered at the same time, the up input must take priority.

  • Peripheral devices (converters, etc.) are not provided by the event, so please bring your own as needed.

Common rules

The rules below are designed to ensure fair and smooth progress in the tournament. However, unexpected situations may require special attention. Therefore, these tournament rules are subject to change without notice. Also, if the rules for individual titles conflict with the tournament common rules, individual titles take precedence.

All personal information registered at the time of entry, including player name, age, and a portrait of the participant, will be used for the purpose of tournament management and publicity.

  • During and after the tournament, the TAKEDOWN 2023 Executive Committee, tournament officials, and various media may take images and videos of participants, which may appear on websites, promotional materials, print media, and multiple media, including broadcasts. Participants consent to this by entering the tournament.
  • There is no age limit to participate in any of the titles played in this tournament
  • Tournament schedules for each title and registration details will be announced later.
  • Tournament organizers will provide a PS4 controller to each player for use during matches. However, tournament organizers will not be responsible for any damage that may occur to the controller during the course of the tournament. It is strongly recommended that players bring their own controller to the tournament to ensure their comfort and familiarity with their own equipment. If a player's controller malfunctions during a match and they do not have a backup controller, they may be subject to disqualification or forfeit of the match.

TAKEDOWN 2023 Tournament Format

The tournament will be in a double-elimination format.

In the Grand Final, the winners of the Winner's Bracket and the winners of the Looser's Bracket will play each other. Players in the Winners Bracket need to win once to win the tournament, while players in the Loser's Bracket need to win twice to win the tournament.

  • What is Double Elimination? Each player starts in the Winner's Bracket, and once they lose, they move to the Loser's Bracket. If they lose there, they will be eliminated.
Match Flow

Move to the designated pool by the designated time.

Selection of Playing Side

In the tournament table, the player listed at the top will be the 1P side, and the player listed at the bottom will be the 2P side (unless both players agree).

Character Selection

Before the start of the match, please inform the judges of the character you will be using. If you do not want your opponent to know which character you are using, you can ask the judge for a blind pick.

Operation Check

If you want to check the operation of your device, please notify a judge. Button and lever checks without a request may be considered a match progression.

Match Play

During a match, the player who won the previous game may continue to use the same character. Players who lost the last match may change characters.

The game will end when either player wins the specified number of games.

After the match, both players should report/confirm the result to the judges. Players with another match should stay in the pool as long as possible to avoid delays. You are required to take permission from the judge if you can leave the pool or not. If you leave without permission, the judge will have the right to disqualify you and give your opponent a walkover.

General Rules
  • If a player is late, he or she will be eliminated from the tournament.
  • Even if you are eliminated from the Winner's side, you can still participate from the Loser's side.
  • Please check the meeting time from the Event Schedule on start.gg.
  • Unless otherwise specified in the additional rules for each title, all games will be played using the latest version of the game at the time of the event, with default settings.
  • You can freely change the in-game controller settings.
  • The use of macro functions on the controller, including continuous fire, is prohibited.
  • If a game is interrupted due to a pause, PS button, or controller trouble, the player who interrupted the game loses the round. In the event of unforeseen trouble, the game will be resumed after recreating the situation as much as possible.
  • The next set shall start within 60 seconds after the end of a set.
  • In the event of a draw game, the match will be replayed under the same conditions.
  • Only DUALSHOCK®4 wireless controllers for PlayStation®4 can be used. However, failure to deactivate the pairing immediately after the match will result in disqualification.
  • Converters manufactured by Brook may be used. Cronus Max Plus" and "Titan One" are prohibited.
  • Non-genuine controllers may be used, including those of your own design. However, wiring multiple switches on the board is prohibited (please ensure that your controller works with PlayStation®4 before bringing it to the event. TAKEDOWN will not provide any guarantees if your controller does not work with PlayStation®4.
  • Legacy and arcade controllers may be used. However, TAKEDOWN makes no warranty if the controller does not work with PlayStation®4.
  • The operation of the controller may be checked at the discretion of the Management Office.
Code of Conduct
  1. Sportsmanship: All participants must exhibit good sportsmanship throughout the tournament. This includes treating opponents with respect, refraining from taunting, and avoiding any behavior that could be considered unsportsmanlike.
  2. Fair Play: Participants must play fairly and abide by the rules and regulations of the tournament. Any attempts to cheat, exploit bugs or glitches, or use unauthorized equipment will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification from the tournament.
  3. Respect: All participants must respect the authority of tournament officials and follow their instructions. Any form of disrespectful or abusive behavior towards other participants or tournament officials will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification from the tournament.
  4. Equipment: Participants are responsible for their own equipment, including consoles, controllers, and other necessary peripherals. Participants should ensure that their equipment is in good working order and free from any modifications or hacks that could provide an unfair advantage.
  5. Communication: Participants must communicate effectively and clearly with tournament officials and other participants. Any form of harassment or inappropriate language will not be tolerated.
  6. Alcohol and Drugs: Participants are strictly prohibited from consuming alcohol or drugs during the tournament. Any participant found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs may be disqualified from the tournament.
  7. Confidentiality: Participants must not disclose any confidential information about the tournament or its participants without the prior written consent of the tournament organizers.
  8. Disqualification: The tournament organizers reserve the right to disqualify any participant who violates any of the above rules or exhibits any other behaviour that is deemed inappropriate or unsportsmanlike.

By participating in the tournament, all participants agree to abide by the above code of conduct and any other rules and regulations set forth by the tournament organizers.
