Frequently Asked Questions

Who is allowed to enter this tournament?

Anyone in North America can enter this tournament. There are no rank or region locks. There are no connection tests to perform either, for now.

What do I do if my opponent and I are having an unplayable connection?

Contact your TO immediately. Do not play anymore of the set. We will take speed tests from both competitors for future use. As of now, we are not DQing competitors for poor connections unless a player has a consistent issue with multiple opponents. We cannot yet set a maximum allowed ping for competing until we’ve collected more data. Honestly, we’re hoping that we won’t have to set a maximum allowed ping.

As of now, you will be asked to play out the match unless one of the competitors has had connection issues with multiple players.

What do we do when a disconnect happens?

All games and rounds prior to the disconnect still count. If the disconnect occurs on round 2 or 3 of a game, players will recreate the round wins (via timeouts) before the disconnect occurred. If possible, try to recreate the state of the Super Meters at the beginning of the round where the disconnect occurred.

How are tournaments seeded?

During a season of play, players are seeded according to the points they’ve accumulated during a season. If a player has not acquired any points during the active season, they are seeded below any players that do and that player’s points acquired during the lifetime of the game are used to seed them against others in the same situation. If a player has no seasonal or lifetime points, they are seeded last.

If the tournament is outside a season, players will be seeded according to lifetime points.

If there is a tie in seeding (i.e. both players have the same amount of season points), players will be played above or below each other randomly.

How do seasons work?

There are 12 tournaments in a season. The first 11 tournaments are seeding tournaments in which players compete to acquire seasonal points. Points are awarded based on the number of entrants in a tournament divided by a player’s placement in the tournament. The 12th tournament is the season finals in which the eight players with the highest amount of seasonal points compete to be the seasonal champion. If there is a tie for 8th place, a tiebreaker match will occur to determine who gets to enter the finals.
