SAMURAI SHODOWN TOURNAMENT FORMAT AND GAME RULES
  • Bracket Format: Double Elimination
  • Rounds per Game: 2/3
  • Games per Set: 2/3
  • Finals Games per Set: 3/5 Games for Losers Finals, 3/5 Games for Winners Finals, 3/5 Games for Grand Finals
  • Winner must keep character, Loser may switch
  • The Player who lost in the previous game in the Match will select the next stage
  • All default colors may be used
  • Costumes may be used

• Blood/Violence: OFF • Video Output Settings: 1080p AND 120Hz

RULES
  • DRAW: In the event of a tied Match declared by a “Draw” or “Double K.O.” or a "Bloom Glitch" or "Bright Screen", that Match will not be scored and both Players will replay the Match with the same character and stage selections.

  • MATCH DISRUPTIONS: In the event of a Player disruption caused by pausing or disconnecting a controller (intentionally or accidentally), the Player who caused the disruption will forfeit the current round of the Match. For disruptions out of Players' control, (i.e. power failure, Bloom glitch-bright screen, etc.) Players will replay the Match with the same character and stage selections.

  • CONTROLLERS: BYOC Players are responsible for bringing a controller. The use of all arcade controllers, game pads, etc. that can be used on the platform (with or without a converter) is permitted. Converters will be provided if needed. If using a converter, plug in converter, plug controller into converter and wait 3-5 seconds Please DO NOT press the PS/Home button, to play on Xbox, you press the Start/Options button

  • SWC 2026 Rulebook Per the rulebook, this tournament will utilize the latest available version of the game, the Xbox Series version.

Double Elimination Default settings All OPTION settings are left on their defaults, with the following two exceptions: Pause menu on long hold: ON Input delay reduction: ON Games are Best 2 out of 3 Rounds Sets are Best 2 out of 3 Games up until Top 8 Sets in Top 8 are Best 3 out of 5 Games Winner of previous game must keep same character and control type Loser of previous game may switch character and/or control type Random stage select from among legal stages (players may opt for an agreed stage*) Training Room is not legal for tournament play, regardless of player agreement If Training Room is randomly selected, return to menu and repeat random stage selection Dynamic control type is banned
