Generally speaking, the preferred controller is a wired Gamecube controller. Controllers with custom firmware including box/leverless style controllers must have firmware that is compliant with the ruleset. Here is a complete list of controllers and their updated compliant firmware filenames, we also discuss a few popular controllers below
Hardware modifications are banned, EXCEPT FOR case modifications (such as notches and cosmetic changes), or hardware-based (ie., not firmware based) snapback and PODE fixes.
All players are expected to abide by these rules at all levels of play including round 1 of pools. First Port Gaming Staff will be checking compliance during ALL PHASES of the tournament.
